Incorporated on May 29, 1916, Monterey Park is a city that combines almost a century of history and tradition with a modern approach to business, neighborhoods, people, and community. The City of Monterey Park is full-service, providing the community its own fire, police, library, parks and recreation, water service, and infrastructure maintenance.
The gateway to the San Gabriel Valley, Monterey Park is located six miles east of the Los Angeles Civic Center and encompasses an area of 7.72 square miles with approximately 61,445 residents.
Development within the City consists primarily of suburban residential neighborhoods balanced by commercial facilities. Monterey Park is bordered by the San Bernardino (10), Long Beach (710) and Pomona (60) freeways, and offers many economic and cultural advantages. In celebration of the ethnic richness of the community, the City sponsors a colorful array of holidays and festivities each year.
