Carter Lake Filter Plant
Company Overview
Located just west of Berthoud, Carter Lake Filter Plant was built in 1961 to provide water to local rural areas. In 1967 Central Weld County Water District and Little Thompson Water District entered into a partnership to jointly own the Water Treatment Plant.
The Filter Plant is a governmental subdivision of the State of Colorado chartered as a Special District. A six-member Board of Directors is responsible for overall plant direction.
The facility includes 2 active water treatment plants; recycle ponds and drying beds, and tank site storage area. The plant is operated by Water Treatment Operators certified by the State of Colorado.
The mission of the CLFP is to provide an adequate and reasonably priced supply of drinking water to the water districts and the people served by the Districts. Using the guidelines established under the Safe Drinking Water Act, filter plant staff produce excellent quality water.
