Avon Lake Regional Water is a progressive water and wastewater utility in Avon Lake, Ohio. Our mission is to provide the region with quality water services. We provide water services to over 200,000 residents living in the seven-county area surrounding Avon Lake and sanitary sewer services to about 30,000 residents living in Avon Lake and parts of Lorain County. Strategically located on the shores of Lake Erie, Avon Lake Regional Water is able to supply the area’s growing need for high quality drinking water. Governed by an independent body elected by the residents of Avon Lake, the Avon Lake Board of Municipal Utilities establishes policy and oversees the organization’s operations.
Company History
Avon Lake Regional Water has a rich history beginning in 1925, starting with water provision for 1,200 Avon Lake residents.The initial investment of $390,000 (in 1925 dollars) included the cost of the land and the original water plant and administration buildings which were constructed a year later. Today, Avon Lake Regional Water is a $60,000,000 operation with water and wastewater treatment facilities.
Avon Lake Regional Water provides water for more than 200,000 Ohio residents living in Lorain, Erie, Huron, Medina, Cuyahoga, Ashland and Wayne Counties. The 680 square mile service area includes the cities of Avon Lake, Avon, North Ridgeville, Village of Sheffield, Sheffield Lake, the City of Medina, and customers served by the Rural Lorain County Water Authority (RLCWA), and the Medina County Northwest Water System (MCNWS).
