We are a rapidly growing software company on a mission to safeguard public health and the environment by helping utilities deliver safe, clean water. The SAMS platform is an integrated solution for all utility compliance and operations needs, with cutting-edge technology to enable utilities to collect, integrate and report on data out of the box. We streamline regulatory compliance, operations and reporting, empowering customers to manage water resources responsibly and make a lasting environmental impact.
Role Overview
We are looking for a Water Quality Subject Matter Expert (SME) to bring deep industry expertise into our software platform’s development, implementation, and client success processes. In this role, you will bridge the gap between real-world regulatory and operational needs and the technology we build to serve them. You’ll work cross-functionally with Product, Implementation Team, Customer Success, and Sales teams to ensure our platform reflects the best practices and nuances of water and wastewater quality compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the internal expert on water and wastewater quality regulations, treatment processes, and reporting requirements (e.g., NPDES, SDWA, EPA, and state-level programs). Lead and collaborate with the Product and Implementation teams to translate regulatory and operational needs into platform features and improvements. Work closely with the Project Management Team to implement SAMS water and wastewater compliance and operational solutions. Participate in user research, product design reviews, and roadmap planning to ensure regulatory relevance and usability. Provide expert guidance and support during client onboarding, particularly for customers with complex water quality monitoring or reporting workflows. Develop and review internal and customer-facing content, including templates, rule libraries, workflows, and training materials. Monitor changes in environmental regulations and industry trends, and advise the team on product or service implications. Support Customer Success and Sales teams with expert input during RFPs, demos, and escalations.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Water Resources, Chemistry, Public Health, or a related field. 5+ years of relevant experience in municipal water systems, with at least 3 years in a senior or advisory role. Deep knowledge of U.S. drinking water regulations (SDWA, EPA rules, etc.) and general understanding of State/local discharge permits. Experience with laboratory methods and interpretation of water quality data. Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with GIS, SCADA systems, and water quality modeling tools. Experience with PFAS, lead and copper rule compliance, and disinfection byproducts. Prior work with public utilities, consulting firms, or regulatory agencies. Ability to manage projects and cross-functional teams. Professional Engineer (PE) license or relevant water operator certification
