Description
Walnut Valley Water District is seeking a dynamic Accounting Manager to join our team of water professionals. Your contributions will directly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of our financial operations. In this role, you will be responsible for all aspects of financial reporting, including developing accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. You’ll plan, organize, and supervise the accounting team to ensure their work is completed accurately and on time while reporting to the Director of Finance. Key responsibilities include general ledger preparation, year-end audit preparation, budget support, and collaboration and communication with other departments and external auditors. This role requires addressing tight deadlines and managing multiple accounting activities efficiently.
As a manager, this role involves interfacing and coordinating with various departments and members of the WVWD management team. Requirements
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- 5 years of Accounting experience (accounts payable/receivable, payroll tax reporting)
- Experience must include supervisory level (3 years)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
DESIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- CPA
- Experience in local government accounting and audits
- Knowledge of cost accounting
